Casting roles for “Thumbelina” contemporary ballet

Avant Vermont Dance is casting 10 dancers, including one featured male dancer, for “Thumbelina,” a 30-minute original story ballet staged outdoors as part of The Junction Dance Festival. Dancers will each receive a stipend of $100, paid at the performance. 

Interested dancers must be aged high school to adult with a strong foundation in ballet. The featured male dancer must have basic partnering skills and experience with lifts. 

Our rehearsals will be an intensive company-style experience focused on developing our community of dancers. If you need help with housing during our rehearsal weekend, please let us know. Dancers must commit to the full rehearsal and performance schedule. 

Rehearsals @ The Dance Factory, Springfield, VT

• Friday, June 27, 6-9pm

• Saturday, June 28 11am-6pm (food provided for dancers)

• Sunday, June 29 9am-4pm (food provided for dancers)

• One outdoor rehearsal on set in Springfield, VT, date TBD

Performance

• Junction Dance Festival, White River Junction, VT, Saturday morning, July 12th (weather date Sunday morning, July 13th)

A group audition will be held Thursday, May 22nd from 6:30-7:30pm at the Dance Factory, 59 Main Street, Springfield, VT. There will be a short warm up before learning/performing several short pieces of contemporary ballet choreography from the show. 

Video auditions demonstrating a short adagio, a petite allegro, and a grand allegro will be considered if received by May 22nd.
